Lead Environmental Consultant / Manager – Environment & Regulatory Compliance
Job Summary
The Lead Environmental Consultant will be responsible for managing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects, statutory approvals, environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management systems. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, and delivering high-quality environmental consultancy services across sectors such as mining, infrastructure, construction, cement, manufacturing, and industrial projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
- Lead and manage Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies and Environmental Management Plans (EMP) for various industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and review EIA reports in accordance with the EIA Notification, 2006 and applicable environmental regulations.
- Conduct baseline environmental assessments, environmental monitoring, pollution load assessments, and environmental risk assessments.
- Perform air quality modelling, noise modelling, and environmental impact analysis.
Regulatory Compliance & Statutory Approvals
- Coordinate with MoEF&CC, SEIAA, SPCBs, CPCB, and other regulatory authorities for obtaining statutory approvals.
- Prepare and submit applications through PARIVESH, OCMMS, and other regulatory portals for:
- Terms of Reference (ToR)
- Environmental Clearance (EC)
- Consent to Establish (CTE)
- Consent to Operate (CTO)
- Environmental Compliance Reports (ECR)
- Ensure timely compliance with all environmental laws, rules, and statutory requirements.
Environmental Audits & Sustainability
- Conduct Environmental Audits, Compliance Audits, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System audits.
- Develop sustainability strategies, environmental performance improvement plans, and pollution prevention initiatives.
- Prepare Pollution Load Assessment Reports (PLAR), compliance reports, remediation plans, and environmental monitoring reports.
- Promote sustainable environmental practices and resource conservation initiatives.
Project Management
- Lead multiple environmental consultancy assignments from project initiation to completion.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, consultants, laboratories, and government agencies.
- Ensure projects are delivered within defined timelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project progress and provide technical guidance to project teams.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Implement and monitor Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management Systems.
- Conduct environmental and HSE risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
- Develop environmental policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.
- Lead internal audits, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with government departments, regulatory authorities, clients, consultants, and external stakeholders.
- Represent the organization during regulatory inspections, public hearings, and technical meetings.
- Conduct stakeholder consultations, environmental awareness programs, and training sessions.
Leadership & Business Development
- Lead and mentor environmental professionals and project teams.
- Support business development by identifying consultancy opportunities and preparing technical proposals.
- Build strong client relationships and contribute to organizational growth.
Qualification
- Ph.D./Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or related discipline.
- NABET Accredited EIA Coordinator/Functional Area Expert will be preferred.
- Additional certifications in ISO 14001, HSE, Sustainability, or Environmental Auditing will be an advantage.
Experience
- 12–15+ years of experience in Environmental Consulting, EIA, Regulatory Compliance, Environmental Audits, and Sustainability.
- Experience across sectors such as Mining, Cement, Infrastructure, Construction, Manufacturing, Industrial Projects, and River Valley Projects.
- Proven experience in obtaining Environmental Clearances and statutory approvals.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of EIA Notification, 2006 and Environmental Protection Act.
- Expertise in MoEF&CC, SEIAA, SPCB, CPCB, PARIVESH, and OCMMS compliance.
- Experience in Environmental Audits, ISO 14001 EMS, HSE Management Systems, and Sustainability.
- Knowledge of Air Quality Modelling, Environmental Risk Assessment, and Pollution Control.
- Excellent project management, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Strong report writing, technical documentation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental software/tools such as AERMOD, PARIVESH, and OCMMS.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- NABET Accredited EIA Coordinator.
- Experience in environmental consultancy organizations.
- Strong regulatory liaison and statutory compliance experience.
- Ability to lead large-scale environmental projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
