Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Tandoor Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience operating a traditional tandoor oven and preparing authentic Indian breads and tandoor dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook tandoor items such as naan, roti, tandoori roti, kebabs, and other clay-oven dishes
- Operate and maintain the tandoor oven safely and efficiently
- Marinate meats and prepare ingredients according to recipes and standards
- Ensure consistent taste, texture, and presentation of all tandoor items
- Maintain cleanliness of the tandoor station and kitchen area
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines
- Assist with kitchen prep and support other kitchen staff as needed
- Monitor inventory and inform management of ingredient needs
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tandoor Cook or similar role
- Knowledge of traditional Indian tandoor cooking techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Physically fit and able to work long hours standing near heat
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal culinary training is a plus
- Experience in Indian or South Asian cuisine
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
