Job Summary
A CNC Setter/Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and production specifications. The role involves machine setup, tool changing, quality inspection, troubleshooting, and maintaining production efficiency and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines for production runs.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
- Install and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and machine offsets.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Operate CNC turning, milling, drilling, or grinding machines.
- Monitor machine performance and make minor program or offset adjustments.
- Conduct first-off and in-process quality inspections using measuring instruments.
- Ensure components meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
- Identify and report machine faults or production issues.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and 5S standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, Machinist, or related field.
- Experience operating CNC machines (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, etc.).
- Ability to read technical drawings and GD&T symbols.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining processes.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments:
- Vernier caliper
- Micrometer
- Height gauge
- Bore gauge
- Basic understanding of CNC programming and offsets.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work shifts and meet production targets.
Preferred Experience
- 1–5 years of experience in CNC machining/manufacturing.
- Experience with CNC Turning Center or VMC/HMC machines.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and tooling optimization.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
