Position Summary
The Store Attender is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing food and related supplies for the hotel kitchen. This role involves handling vegetables, meats, seafood, dairy products, dry goods, and other kitchen inventory items while ensuring proper stock rotation, quality standards, and accurate record-keeping. The position requires physical work, including regular lifting and movement of stock.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Inspection
- Receive deliveries of vegetables, meats, poultry, seafood, dairy products, dry goods, and other kitchen-related supplies.
- Verify quantities received against purchase orders, invoices, and delivery notes.
- Conduct basic quality checks to ensure products meet hotel standards for freshness, appearance, temperature, and condition.
- Report any shortages, damages, quality concerns, or discrepancies to the supervisor.
Stock Handling & Storage
- Store products in designated areas, including dry storage, refrigerated storage, and freezers.
- Ensure proper labeling, dating, and stock rotation using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas.
- Monitor storage conditions and report equipment or temperature issues promptly.
Inventory Control
- Measure, weigh, count, and record incoming and outgoing stock accurately.
- Issue products to kitchen departments according to authorized requisitions.
- Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly inventory counts.
- Maintain inventory records and update stock logs accurately.
Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of receipts, issues, stock balances, and wastage.
- Prepare and file inventory-related documents as required.
- Support stock audits and inventory reconciliation activities.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Comply with hotel policies and applicable health and safety regulations.
- Use proper lifting and handling techniques to minimize injury risks.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling products.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in stores, warehouse, hotel, restaurant, or food service operations is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of food products, especially vegetables, meats, seafood, and perishable goods.
- Ability to perform basic measurements, counting, and record-keeping.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems are preferred.
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull stock and supplies regularly.
- Capability to handle loads up to 25 kg (or as per local regulations and company policy).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the work shift.
- Comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer storage environments when required.
