Key Responsibilities of a Die Setter:
- Machine Setup:Mounting and aligning dies or molds onto machinery (like presses, forging machines, or die-casting machines) according to blueprints, work orders, and specifications.
- Tooling:Selecting and installing necessary tooling equipment, such as cutting tools, fixtures, and gripping dies.
- Adjustments:Making precise adjustments to machine settings, including stroke, speed, temperature, and pressure, to optimize the manufacturing process.
- Troubleshooting:Identifying and resolving issues with the machinery, dies, or tooling to maintain production flow and product quality.
- Quality Control:Inspecting the initial products or castings to verify that the die setup is correct and meets quality standards.
- Maintenance:Performing routine maintenance on dies and machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts.
- Safety:Ensuring a safe work environment by following safety procedures and regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Documentation:Maintaining records of die setups, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered.
In essence, a Die Setter acts as a key link between the machine and the final product, ensuring efficient and accurate manufacturing operations.
