Position: Biomedical Engineer
Department: Biomedical / Maintenance
Location: Nirmals Eye Hospital
Reports To: Hospital Administration / Operations Manager
Job Summary
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, safety, and proper functioning of all biomedical equipment used in the hospital. The role ensures equipment availability, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and timely preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all biomedical equipment across OPD, OT, diagnostics, wards, and other departments.
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of medical equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors/service engineers for equipment servicing and repairs.
- Maintain equipment-wise service, calibration, warranty, AMC and breakdown records.
- Ensure regular calibration and performance checks of critical equipment.
- Inspect newly purchased equipment before installation and commissioning.
- Monitor equipment downtime and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain an updated Biomedical Equipment Asset Register.
- Train staff on safe and proper usage of biomedical equipment.
- Ensure electrical and equipment safety standards are followed.
- Coordinate with departments to identify equipment-related issues.
- Support procurement by providing technical specifications and vendor comparisons.
- Monitor AMC/CMC renewal dates and service schedules.
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and hospital accreditation requirements.
- Maintain spare-parts inventory and coordinate replacement when required.
- Report major equipment failures and recurring problems to management.
- Ensure proper disposal/decommissioning procedures for obsolete equipment.

Experience with ophthalmic equipment such as:
- Slit Lamps
- Auto Refractometers / Keratometers
- OCT
- Fundus Cameras
- Visual Field Analyzer
- A/B Scan
- Optical Biometers
- Phaco Machines
- Operating Microscopes
- Autoclaves / ETO equipment
- Patient Monitors
- ECG and other diagnostic equipment
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering
- Relevant hospital experience preferred.
- Experience in ophthalmic equipment will be an added advantage.

Pay: ₹12,114.41 - ₹14,506.16 per month
