Purpose and Scope:
The Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) is to provide fire protection design analysis and review including determination of sprinkler, alarm systems, and equipment selection. This position will be in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and it is located at Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB), Doha, Qatar.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide fire protection design analysis maintenance as required by contract requirements.
Provide expertise to all fire alarm system impairments or analysis as required by the contract.
Participate in preliminary and final acceptance testing for all fire detection systems.
Submit written reports of all fire alarm system problems, repairs, and test results.
Provide expertise from the FPE perspective as required by contract requirements.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor’s degree in fire protection, mechanical, electrical, or a related field with at least five (5) years fire protection experience.
Registration as a Fire Protection Engineer is preferred.
Must be capable of providing fire protection design analysis and review including determination of sprinkler, alarm systems, and equipment selection.
Required to complete AFIT WENG 400, WENG 519, WMGT 131, WMGT 301, WMGT 417, WMGT 322, WMGT 422, and WTSS 200 required. All required courses are offered online or live broadcast and shall be completed through the first available offering after hiring date.
Must have knowledge of principles of planning, project programming, project design reviews, project management and construction management.
High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
Prefer to be qualified NICET II.
Prefer to be certified to inspect and certify kitchen hoods.
Must be a USN to fill this position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain Secret Clearance.
Possess a valid state issued driver’s license or international driver’s license and passport.
Ability to read and write English is required.

Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
This position will be exposed to products of fire to include heat, smoke, toxic fumes, and gases.
Working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
