The SMS Electrician is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS). The role ensures smooth operation of furnaces, cranes, motors, panels, and other electrical equipment while maintaining safety and production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment in SMS area.
- Repair and maintenance of motors, drives, panels, transformers, and breakers.
- Attend electrical breakdowns and minimize downtime.
- Preventive and predictive maintenance activities as per schedule.
- Check and maintain EOT cranes, furnace electrical systems, and PLC panels.
- Cable laying, termination, and panel wiring work.
- Monitor electrical parameters and report abnormalities.
- Ensure proper functioning of DG sets, compressors, and utility equipment.
- Follow electrical safety standards and plant safety rules.
- Maintain maintenance records and daily reports.
- Coordinate with production and mechanical teams during shutdown and breakdown activities.
- Required Skills:
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
- Understanding of PLC, VFD, motors, and control panels.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and circuits.
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
