Team Overview
The Fraud Solutions Engineering team is responsible for building and enhancing TransUnion's fraud detection and prevention platforms that help customers make trusted decisions, reduce risk, and combat evolving fraud threats. The team develops scalable, secure, and high-performing applications that support critical business operations and customer-facing solutions across TransUnion's ecosystem.
This role is part of the Software Development organization and collaborates closely with Product Managers, Architects, QA Engineers, DevOps teams, and other engineering partners to deliver innovative fraud detection capabilities and technology solutions.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Developer (Java), you will design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and scenario workflows that support TransUnion's fraud detection platforms. This role exists to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions that enable efficient fraud identification, operational excellence, and continuous product enhancement.
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications, business scenarios, and workflow components that support fraud detection and prevention solutions.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using Java, Spring Framework, and modern software engineering best practices.
- Build and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration services to support platform scalability, reliability, and interoperability.
- Conduct code reviews, implement automated unit tests, and contribute to quality assurance activities to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Monitor and optimize application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement sustainable solutions that enhance system stability.
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and software development standards while supporting vulnerability remediation efforts.
- Participate actively in Agile delivery practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, release deployments, and operational readiness activities.
Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and best-practice adoption across the development team.

Required Knowledge And Experiences
5-8 years of software development experience, including designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise-scale Java applications. This experience is essential for independently delivering complex technical solutions and supporting production environments.
Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), software design patterns, and application architecture principles, enabling the development of scalable, maintainable, and high-quality software solutions.
Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and cross-functional development teams. This knowledge is critical for effective collaboration, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement.
Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed applications, supporting integration requirements, performance optimization, and platform scalability.
Experience working with relational databases, data modeling, performance tuning, and troubleshooting, ensuring efficient data management and application performance.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, source control, testing methodologies, and deployment processes to support reliable software delivery.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent professional experience, technical certifications, and demonstrated expertise in enterprise application development will also be considered.
