JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position: Resident Engineer – OHE (Overhead Electrification)
Qualification & Experience:
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following eligibility criteria:
Option 1 – Degree Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics Engineering from a recognized university/institution; and
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in OHE, railway electrification, electrical infrastructure, railway projects, or related engineering/project execution works.
OR
Option 2 – Diploma Qualification
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Project Management / Construction Management from a recognized institution; and
- Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience in OHE, railway electrification, electrical infrastructure, railway projects, construction, or related project execution activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor the execution of OHE works in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, project schedules, and contractual requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and site-level direction for OHE installation, erection, testing, commissioning, and related activities.
- Review and verify OHE drawings, designs, calculations, method statements, work procedures, and technical submissions.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, and applicable railway/OHE standards.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, design teams, suppliers, and other agencies involved in OHE execution.
- Monitor the progress of OHE works against approved project schedules and identify delays, constraints, and areas requiring corrective action.
- Ensure proper planning and execution of activities including mast and portal erection, foundation works, registration, wiring, cantilever installation, contact and catenary wire installation, sectioning and paralleling arrangements, bonding, earthing, and associated OHE works, as applicable to the project.
- Supervise and monitor OHE-related testing, inspection, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and energization activities.
- Ensure that construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure timely identification and rectification of defects, deviations, and non-conformities.
- Coordinate with electrical, civil, S&T, track, telecom, and other disciplines to resolve interface issues affecting OHE works.
- Monitor the quality of materials and equipment used for OHE works and ensure compliance with approved technical specifications and standards.
- Review and monitor contractor submissions including material approvals, shop drawings, inspection requests, test reports, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements and safe working practices at the project site.
- Identify technical and construction-related risks and recommend suitable mitigation and corrective measures.
- Assist in monitoring contractor performance, manpower deployment, resource utilization, and work productivity.
- Participate in site meetings, progress review meetings, technical discussions, and coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and other project-related technical documentation.
- Maintain proper records of inspections, measurements, test results, approvals, site instructions, non-conformities, and other relevant project documents.
- Monitor snagging, punch-point closure, testing, commissioning, and final handover of OHE systems.
- Provide technical support during project completion, trial runs, energization, and handover activities, as applicable.
- Ensure proper preparation and submission of as-built drawings, completion documentation, test certificates, and operation/maintenance-related records.
- Perform other technical and project-related responsibilities assigned by the Project Director/Chief Engineer/Project Manager.
Pay: ₹160,000.00 - ₹175,000.00 per month
