Key Responsibilities:
A. Academic Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for the academic growth and overall development of the School of Law.
- Lead curriculum design, revision, and implementation in accordance with UGC, BCI, NEP, and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) frameworks.
- Ensure effective delivery of Law and Ph.D. programmes.
- Promote excellence in teaching through innovative pedagogical practices, clinical legal education, moot courts, legal aid clinics, simulation exercises, and technology-enabled learning.
- Foster interdisciplinary teaching and research initiatives.
B. Academic Administration:
- Serve as the administrative head of the School of Law.
- Develop academic plans, annual budgets, departmental goals, and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee faculty recruitment, mentoring, workload allocation, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Chair School Board meetings, Board of Studies, Research Committees, and other statutory committees.
- Ensure timely conduct of admissions, examinations, academic audits, and programme reviews.
- Monitor implementation of university policies and academic regulations.
C. Research, Innovation & Consultancy:
- Provide leadership in promoting high-quality legal research and scholarly publications.
- Encourage funded research projects, consultancy assignments, policy research, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Supervise Ph.D. scholars and mentor faculty members in research activities.
- Promote publications in Scopus-indexed, Web of Science, and UGC-CARE-listed journals.
- Facilitate filing of patents, copyrights, and intellectual property initiatives wherever applicable.
D. Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with UGC Regulations, Bar Council of India norms, NAAC quality benchmarks, NIRF parameters, and other statutory requirements.
- Lead accreditation, ranking, and quality enhancement initiatives.
- Coordinate preparation of AQAR, SSR, NBA/NAAC documentation, and regulatory inspection reports.
- Develop and implement continuous quality improvement mechanisms.
E. Student Development:
- Promote academic excellence, ethics, leadership, and professional competence among students.
- Strengthen moot court activities, legal aid clinics, internships, mediation centres, and advocacy training.
- Guide placement initiatives, higher education opportunities, competitive examination preparation, and entrepreneurship in legal services.
- Establish effective student mentoring and grievance redressal mechanisms.
F. Industry, Judiciary & Institutional Collaboration:
- Develop strategic partnerships with courts, law firms, corporate legal departments, government organizations, NGOs, arbitration centres, and international universities.
- Promote consultancy, executive education, certificate programmes, and continuing legal education.
- Facilitate internships, live projects, faculty exchange programmes, and collaborative research initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Law from a recognized University. (Mandatory)
- Master's Degree (LL.M.) with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade from a recognized University.
- Qualifications must be in accordance with the UGC and applicable Bar Council of India (BCI) norms.
- A distinguished academic record with significant contributions to legal education and research.
Experience:
- Minimum 20 years of teaching, research, and academic administration experience in Universities, National Law Universities (NLUs), or other recognized institutions of higher education.
- Minimum 10 years of experience at the level of Professor or in an equivalent senior academic leadership position.
- Demonstrated experience as Dean, Head of Department, Director, Principal, or equivalent academic leadership role will be preferred.
- Proven record of successfully leading institutional development, accreditation, academic governance, and faculty development initiatives.
Research Requirements:
Candidates should demonstrate:
- An outstanding record of publications in Scopus-indexed, Web of Science, and UGC-CARE-listed journals.
- Successful supervision of Ph.D. scholars.
- Experience in obtaining externally funded research projects and consultancy assignments.
- Significant contribution to legal scholarship, policy research, curriculum development, and institutional advancement.
- Participation in national and international conferences, seminars, and academic collaborations.
