We are seeking a skilled and motivated Tube Plasma Cutter Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC tube plasma cutting equipment to produce high-quality metal components in accordance with engineering drawings and production schedules.
This role requires a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The position supports the manufacture of precision-engineered products for a range of industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC tube plasma cutting machinery.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and production work orders.
- Load, position, and secure metal tubes, pipes, and profiles for cutting operations.
- Program and adjust machine settings to achieve required dimensions and tolerances.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments during production runs.
- Conduct quality inspections using measuring equipment to ensure components meet specifications.
- Identify and report defects, non-conformances, and equipment issues.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery and work areas.
- Assist with material handling, stock control, and production documentation.
- Work closely with fabrication, welding, and assembly teams to ensure efficient workflow.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures and company policies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience operating CNC tube plasma cutting, laser cutting, or similar fabrication machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
- Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium components.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes and manufacturing techniques.
- Competent in the use of measuring instruments such as tape measures, verniers, and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
- Must be capable of meeting the English language requirements for a UK Skilled Worker visa, including achieving a minimum UKVI IELTS score of 5.5 in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, where required.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with CNC programming and nesting software.
- Forklift licence or overhead crane experience.
- Previous experience within structural steel, agricultural, construction equipment, or heavy engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of tube profiling, fabrication, and welding preparation processes.
