The role holder leads India’s manufacturing, co-manufacturing and supply-chain operations through a period of transformational change, with full operational P&L and balance-sheet accountability.
Working with the India Leadership Team, GM UK & India, Global Supply Chain — and in partnership with Finance, Procurement, HR and Legal — the role delivers safe, compliant, high-quality and cost optimised production and world-class service to enable India’s commercial growth (growing from 3m to 7m 9L cases by 2030).
Accountabilities include H&S, product quality, liquid quality/development, Internal Logistics, Bottling / Co-manufacturing governance and OU strategic projects / footprint expansion. The role also represents the India OU on the India Leadership Team and drives operational capability, capacity and cost performance to support the commercial profitability of the India brand Unit.
The role takes full accountability for the Cost-to-Serve (CTS) P&L (c. $100m), recognising CTS is a material driver of profitability due to the ratio to net sales. The successful leader will set and deliver CTS improvement targets through a focused optimisation program while building a high-performing, compliant and scalable operations network.
The role requires a strategic thinker with strong financial and commercial acumen who is experienced leading in an agile, complex multi-site / multi-state environment.
Role Responsibilities
Strategic OU leadership & footprint delivery
Represent SGS India OU & Supply Chain on the India Leadership Team, governs execution of the OU footprint expansion that underpins the India long-term strategy.
KPI: Footprint/expansion milestones delivered on schedule against the 3-year masterplan.
Health, safety, environment & regulatory compliance
Ensure the India OU is fully compliant with Health & Safety, Environment, Customs & Excise and all statutes so all certifications and licenses are maintained.
KPI: Zero major regulatory breaches; maintain ISO/IMS and other licenses.
Workplace standards & operational quality
Maintain workplace and operational standards across SGS and co-man sites, achieving Protect-the-Castle audit targets and required quality metrics.
KPI: 100% Protect-the-Castle (1.0–3.0) audit attainment; Zero class 1 and 2 complaints, other quality KPIs within target.
External stakeholder management & co-man governance
Professionally represent the business with local/regional authorities, customers and supply partners; govern co-manufacturer relationships (contracts, SLAs, audits, renewals).
KPI: All coman contracts/SLA compliance ≥ 95%; timely completion of required audits and remediation.
Cost-to-Serve (CTS) P&L ownership & financial stewardship
Take full accountability for the CTS P&L (c. $100m → $230m by 2030), driving CTS improvement, inflation mitigation and transparent financial reporting.
KPI: Achieve defined CTS improvement (e.g. 1.0%. reduction in CTS per annum vs strat plan through efficiency, optimization and PPV) tracked through annual P&L variance reports.
Operational roadmap & CAPEX delivery
Develop and execute a comprehensive 1/3/12-year operational roadmap and CAPEX plan that translates the commercial strategy (3m → 7m 9L cases) into actionable projects.
KPI: CAPEX delivery ≥ 90% on time and on budget; roadmap milestones met.
Capacity, service & NPI readiness
Ensure bottling/network capacity, service levels and new product introduction readiness so commercial targets can be met.
KPI: Network OTIF/Service ≥ 95%; NPI on-time & in-full ≥ 95%.
Supply chain excellence & continuous improvement
Sponsor and embed TRACC, S&OP, SMV across the OU to drive productivity and masterplan delivery.
KPI: Achievement of TRACC / SMV pillar KPIs and year-on-year productivity gains per masterplan.
People, culture & inclusion
Lead, motivate and develop the India OU to maximize employee performance, engagement and succession; deliver on the Diversity & Inclusion agenda.
KPI: Belonging and inclusion (Glint) ≥ 80; Employee engagement (Glint ≥ 85); Succession coverage for key roles ≥ 80%.
Governance, partnership & controllable cost optimization
Partner with Finance, Procurement, HR and Legal to define cost-loss pools, optimise controllable costs and ensure robust governance, risk and compliance across the OU.
KPI: Controllable cost reduction targets met; timely delivery of governance and risk remediation items.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Finance or Business.
MBA or relevant master’s preferred.
Certifications & Professional Development
Lean certification (TRACC preferred) and/or Six Sigma (Black or Green Belt) or equivalent Operational Excellence credential.
Project management certification (PMP or equivalent) and working knowledge of ISO/IMS and regulatory frameworks.
Experience - core
Minimum 10+ years in manufacturing, supply-chain or multi-site/site leadership roles, preferably in Alcoholic Beverages or FMCG (highly regulated sectors).
Proven general management experience with progressive responsibility — minimum 5 years with full P&L and balance-sheet accountability for a multi-site operation.
Direct experience owning a Cost-to-Serve (CTS) P&L of c.$100m (or similar scale) and delivering measurable CTS improvement programs.
Track record delivering CAPEX and footprint expansion programmes (planning and delivery, ≥90% on time/on budget).
Demonstrable success implementing Operational Excellence frameworks (TRACC / Lean / SMV / S&OP) and embedding pillar-based productivity improvements.
Hands-on experience managing co-manufacturers: contracts, SLAs, governance, audits and remediation across multiple co-man sites.
Delivered NPI readiness and bottling/network capacity planning to support OTIF/service targets (target: ≥95% OTIF).
Strong background in HSE, regulatory and customs & excise compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment; proven ability to maintain certifications and avoid major breaches.
Strong financial acumen — experienced with CAPEX justification, P&L variance analysis, PPV, and controllable cost programs.
Experience in leading large, geographically-distributed teams (100+ headcount and multiple direct reports), with demonstrated capability in succession planning and people development.
