Job Summary
A South Indian Chef is responsible for preparing authentic South Indian cuisine, including traditional dishes such as dosas, idlis, vadas, sambars, and various regional specialties. This role requires expertise in South Indian flavors, cooking techniques, and food presentation while maintaining high standards of hygiene and kitchen efficiency. The chef must ensure consistency in taste, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking:
- Prepare a wide range of South Indian dishes, including breakfast items, curries, rice dishes, and chutneys.
- Ensure the authenticity of flavors by using traditional ingredients and cooking methods.
- Maintain consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation.
- Develop new recipes and innovate within the South Indian cuisine framework.
Kitchen Operations & Management:
- Manage kitchen operations, ensuring timely food preparation and service.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure the availability of fresh ingredients.
- Oversee proper food storage and waste management to minimize costs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance:
- Follow food safety standards (HACCP, FSSAI, or relevant local regulations).
- Ensure hygiene practices in food handling, preparation, and storage.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure freshness and compliance with health regulations.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Supervise and train junior chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants.
- Delegate kitchen tasks effectively to ensure smooth workflow.
- Provide guidance on South Indian cooking techniques and best practices.
Customer Experience & Menu Development:
- Work with management to design and update menus based on seasonal availability and customer preferences.
- Incorporate customer feedback to enhance food quality and offerings.
- Ensure timely service and maintain high customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Experience:
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience as a South Indian Chef in a restaurant, hotel, or catering service.
- Experience in preparing a variety of South Indian dishes, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in South Indian cooking techniques (e.g., tempering, steaming, grinding).
- Strong knowledge of South Indian spices, ingredients, and regional flavors.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Attention to detail and creativity in food presentation.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
