Job Summary
The Channel Head will be responsible for the overall management, growth, and performance of the news channel. The role includes overseeing editorial operations, programming, digital expansion, revenue growth, team management, compliance, and strategic planning to ensure the channel achieves its viewership, credibility, and business objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesEditorial & Content Management
- Lead and supervise Input, Output, Digital, Production, and Bureau teams.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and impactful news coverage.
- Approve major editorial decisions and special programming.
- Monitor content quality, journalistic standards, and channel credibility.
- Develop and implement content strategies to increase viewership and audience engagement.
Channel Operations
- Oversee day-to-day channel operations and newsroom functioning.
- Ensure smooth coordination between all departments.
- Monitor breaking news coverage and special events.
- Ensure efficient utilization of channel resources and infrastructure.
Business & Revenue Growth
- Develop strategies to increase channel revenue through advertisements, sponsorships, and brand partnerships.
- Coordinate with Marketing and Sales teams for business expansion.
- Explore new revenue opportunities across television and digital platforms.
- Monitor budgets and control operational costs.
Digital & Brand Development
- Drive growth across YouTube, Website, OTT, and Social Media platforms.
- Monitor TRP, digital analytics, audience behavior, and market trends.
- Strengthen channel branding and public image.
- Develop long-term growth strategies for audience expansion.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate departmental heads and teams.
- Establish performance targets and KPIs.
- Ensure discipline, productivity, and professional development.
- Handle recruitment planning and succession management for key positions.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with broadcasting regulations, company policies, and ethical journalism standards.
- Manage organizational risks and reputation.
- Represent the channel before government agencies, industry bodies, and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Television News, Digital Media, or Broadcasting.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a senior newsroom or media management role.
- Strong understanding of news operations, digital media, programming, and revenue management.
