Position Responsibilities
Deltek is seeking an India-based Senior Engineering Manager to lead a distributed Shared Product Services team responsible for building reusable capabilities and driving cross-product engineering consistency across the Deltek PPM (Project Portfolio Management) suite of products. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this leader plays a critical role in reducing duplication, accelerating delivery, and ensuring product teams can ship with confidence and quality.

Design and deliver shared capabilities — Build reusable services, libraries, frameworks, and integration models that product teams across the PPM suite can adopt to reduce duplication and improve consistency

Drive product-team adoption — Partner with product teams to integrate shared functionality, creating adoption paths, migration guidance, release notes, and support models that respect release timelines and customer commitments

Own cross-product control processes — Lead engineering governance processes including Database Change Control and Security Vulnerability management, ensuring visibility and consistency across teams

Manage global delivery — Coordinate work across distributed teams with differing priorities and release schedules; maintain alignment through clear written communication and proactive risk management

Champion reliability and operational excellence — Set high standards for security, performance, and operational readiness; drive disciplined practices around testing, rollback planning, documentation, and incident learning

Embed AI-first engineering practices — Define and evolve AI-first development practices that improve code quality, delivery speed, testing, documentation, and team productivity

Lead the Customer Care liaison function — Own the Help Desk liaison between Customer Care and Development, ensuring customer-reported issues and escalations are triaged, routed, and resolved effectively

Grow and develop the team — Manage, coach, and develop a distributed team of approximately 8–10 engineers/technical staff, fostering a culture of ownership, technical judgment, collaboration, and customer focus
Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful hands-on engineering work

4+ years of engineering management experience, including people management, delivery accountability, and team development

Experience with Enterprise Windows Desktop and Web solutions built on technologies including C++, C#.Net, VB.Net, JavaScript, Oracle, and SQL Server

Experience leading teams that built reusable software capabilities — shared services, common components, internal libraries, SDKs, frameworks, or APIs — consumed by multiple product or engineering teams

Strong technical judgment across architecture, design, security, reliability, database change, and operational discussions

Proven ability to deliver complex technical programs with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and competing priorities

Demonstrated ability to influence teams and senior technical contributors outside your direct reporting line

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level updates and decision documents

Experience working effectively across time zones with globally distributed teams and stakeholders

Experience in multi-product enterprise software environments

Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams and partnering with US-based senior engineering leadership

Experience with shared component versioning, backward compatibility, package management, migration planning, and deprecation strategies
