Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced Social Studies Teacher to teach students in Grades 11 and 12 under the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Cambridge IGCSE curriculum.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in social sciences and humanities, with the ability to inspire students to understand historical, political, geographical, economic, and societal issues from local and global perspectives. The teacher will foster critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, research skills, and global citizenship.
Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic & Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and rigorous Social Studies instruction aligned with IB and Cambridge curriculum frameworks.
- Teach relevant components including:
- History
- Geography
- Global Politics
- Contemporary World Issues
- International Relations
- Civics and Citizenship
- Human Rights
- Environmental and Sustainable Development Studies
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans and learning resources.
- Foster critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and evidence-based discussions.
- Incorporate current affairs, global events, and real-world case studies into classroom instruction.
- Promote inquiry-based, student-centered learning practices.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
IB & IGCSE Curriculum ResponsibilitiesIB Diploma Programme (DP)
- Teach IB Humanities and Social Sciences subjects such as:
- History
- Geography
- Global Politics
- Environmental Systems and Societies (where applicable)
- Guide students through Internal Assessments (IA), research projects, presentations, and examinations.
- Support the development of IB Learner Profile attributes.
- Encourage interdisciplinary connections and international-mindedness.
Cambridge IGCSE
- Deliver Cambridge IGCSE Social Studies, History, Geography, or related Humanities subjects as assigned.
- Prepare students for coursework, examinations, and project-based assessments.
- Conduct revision sessions and mock examinations.
- Monitor student performance and implement strategies to improve outcomes.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate academic records, grades, and progress reports.
- Analyze assessment data to improve student achievement.
- Prepare examination-oriented learning strategies and remediation plans where necessary.
Student Development & Mentorship
- Support students in developing informed perspectives on global and societal issues.
- Encourage independent research, debate, and intellectual curiosity.
- Mentor students participating in Model United Nations (MUN), debate competitions, research projects, and social science-related activities.
- Guide students in academic planning and university preparation.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
Curriculum Development
- Participate in curriculum planning, review, and enhancement processes.
- Develop innovative, inquiry-driven teaching materials and assessments.
- Collaborate with other faculty members on interdisciplinary learning initiatives.
- Stay updated with developments in social sciences, international affairs, and educational best practices.
- Contribute to departmental goals and school improvement plans.
School & Professional Responsibilities
- Attend faculty meetings, academic reviews, workshops, and professional development programs.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school functions.
- Support extracurricular activities and student leadership initiatives.
- Uphold institutional policies, safeguarding procedures, and professional standards.

QualificationsEssential Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Studies, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, Humanities, or a related field.
- Bachelor's Degree with a recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, Teaching License, or equivalent).
- Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience at the secondary or higher secondary level.
- Experience teaching IB Diploma Programme and/or Cambridge IGCSE curriculum.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- IB-certified training in Humanities or Social Sciences subjects.
- Experience teaching in international schools.
- Experience with Cambridge assessment frameworks.
- Familiarity with online and blended learning environments.
- Experience in research-based and inquiry-driven instruction.
