Surface Grinder – Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate and set up surface grinding machines as per production requirements.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, job specifications, and dimensional tolerances.
- Perform precision grinding operations to achieve the required dimensions, flatness, parallelism, and surface finish.
- Select and dress suitable grinding wheels based on the material and job requirements.
- Set and adjust machine parameters such as grinding depth, feed, speed, and table movement.
- Load, unload, and properly secure components using magnetic chucks or suitable work-holding devices.
- Measure and inspect components using instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, dial gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Ensure components are produced within specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Perform in-process inspection and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy.
- Identify grinding defects such as burn marks, chatter marks, dimensional variation, and improper surface finish.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and follow 5S standards in the work area.
- Follow all safety procedures while operating the grinding machine.
- Carry out basic machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and grinding wheel replacement as required.
- Record production quantities, inspection results, and rejection details accurately.
- Coordinate with the Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve process-related issues.
- Minimize material wastage, tool consumption, machine downtime, and rejection.
- Follow company procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
Required Skills:
- Experience in operating surface grinding machines.
- Knowledge of precision measurement instruments.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances.
- Knowledge of grinding wheel selection and dressing.
- Experience in precision component manufacturing is preferred.
- Knowledge of 5S, safety, and quality practices.
Pay: ₹15,091.61 - ₹32,372.80 per month
