Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Maintenance Head to lead all maintenance and utility operations at our sheet metal manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment availability, minimizing downtime through preventive and predictive maintenance, and driving continuous improvement in maintenance practices.
The role requires strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, automation, and utility systems supporting processes such as laser cutting, CNC turret punching, press shop, pretreatment, powder coating, gasket machining, assembly, and ETP operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance schedules for all plant equipment.
- Ensure maximum machine uptime and minimize unplanned breakdowns through effective maintenance planning.
- Monitor equipment performance and initiate corrective actions to improve reliability.
- Establish maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, downtime, and equipment availability.
Plant Equipment Maintenance
Oversee maintenance activities for:
- Laser Cutting Machines
- CNC Turret Punching Machines
- Press Shop Equipment (Mechanical & Hydraulic Presses)
- Sheet Metal Fabrication Equipment
- Pretreatment Plant
- Powder Coating Plant
- Conveyor Systems
- Assembly Lines
- Gasket Machining Equipment
- Air Compressors
- DG Sets
- Material Handling Equipment
- ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant)
- Electrical Distribution Systems and Plant Utilities
Utilities Management
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of utilities including compressed air, electrical systems, water supply, ventilation, DG sets, and HVAC systems.
- Monitor utility consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
- Maintain statutory compliance related to electrical and utility installations.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the maintenance team, including engineers, technicians, electricians, fitters, and utility operators.
- Allocate work, monitor performance, and identify training needs.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Conduct equipment inspections and condition monitoring to identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
- Analyze root causes of recurring failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Maintain optimum inventory levels of critical spares and consumables.
- Coordinate with the Purchase department for timely procurement of spare parts.
- Optimize maintenance costs without compromising equipment reliability.
Automation & Electrical Systems
- Maintain PLC-based control systems, electrical panels, sensors, VFDs, and industrial automation equipment.
- Coordinate with automation vendors for troubleshooting, upgrades, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure proper calibration of instruments and control systems.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe maintenance practices.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements related to electrical systems, boilers (if applicable), pressure vessels, and environmental regulations.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements to increase productivity and reduce maintenance costs.
- Support new equipment installation, commissioning, and plant expansion projects.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, SOPs, and maintenance logs.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
- Present maintenance KPIs, downtime analysis, and improvement plans to management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading a maintenance team.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.
- Experience with laser cutting, turret punching, press shop, powder coating, pretreatment, assembly, and fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, industrial automation, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with TPM, Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, RCFA, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S.
- Strong leadership, planning, and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management software (CMMS/ERP preferred).
