Experience: 1 Year plus experience no fresher
Job Summary
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) – Emergency Medicine is responsible for the assessment, stabilization, diagnosis, and initial management of patients presenting with medical, surgical, trauma, and other emergency conditions. The RMO provides immediate care, coordinates with consultants and specialists, and ensures timely documentation and patient management in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform rapid triage and assessment of emergency patients.
- Diagnose and initiate treatment for acute medical and surgical conditions.
- Stabilize critically ill and trauma patients.
- Manage emergency cases such as:
- Chest pain / Acute Coronary Syndrome
- Stroke
- Seizures
- Respiratory distress
- Poisoning
- Polytrauma / Road Traffic Accidents
- Shock and cardiac arrest
- Provide Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS/ACLS) as required.
- Perform procedures such as:
- IV cannulation
- Arterial blood sampling
- Foley catheterization
- Suturing and wound management
- Splinting and basic trauma care
- Assisting in intubation and resuscitation
- Order and interpret laboratory and radiological investigations.
Patient Monitoring
- Monitor vital signs and clinical progress of patients.
- Reassess patients regularly and modify treatment plans as needed.
- Ensure safe handover of patients during shift changes.
- Facilitate admissions, transfers, referrals, and discharges.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate medical records and case sheets.
- Complete medico-legal documentation when required.
- Record treatment orders, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Adhere to hospital policies, emergency protocols, and patient safety guidelines.
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, ICU, OT, radiology, laboratory, and other departments.
- Communicate patient status and treatment plans to relatives when appropriate.
- Escalate critical cases promptly to senior physicians.
Skills Required
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills

- BLS and ACLS knowledge

- Ability to work under pressure and in rotational shifts
- Knowledge of medico-legal and hospital protocols
- Documentation and record-keeping skills
Preferred Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) – preferred
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – preferred
Duty Pattern
- Rotational shifts including day, night, weekends, and holidays.
- 24×7 emergency coverage as per departmental roster.
