Job Title: Textile Designer Intern

Internship Duration: 06–10 Months
Job Summary
The Textile Designer Intern will assist the Design & Product Development team in creating innovative fabric designs, patterns, colorways, and collections for home textiles, furnishing fabrics, apparel fabrics, or other textile products. The intern will gain practical exposure to textile design, trend forecasting, sample development, and production coordination while supporting the design team in day-to-day activities.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development
- Assist in creating fabric designs, prints, weaves, textures, and pattern repeats.
- Develop colorways and design variations based on customer requirements and market trends.
- Prepare design presentations, mood boards, and concept boards.
- Support the development of seasonal and customer-specific collections.
Sample Development
- Coordinate with the sampling and production teams for fabric sample development.
- Follow up on strike-offs, lab dips, handloom samples, and trial developments.
- Maintain records of approved samples and design revisions.
Trend Research
- Research fashion, interior, and textile design trends.
- Study market developments, competitor products, and customer preferences.
- Collect inspiration from trade fairs, design resources, and digital platforms.
Design Software & Artwork
- Prepare artwork using design software.
- Modify existing designs as per customer feedback.
- Organize and maintain digital design files and archives.
Coordination
- Coordinate with Merchandising, Sampling, Production, Dyeing, Printing, Weaving, and Quality teams during product development.
- Participate in design review meetings and assist in implementing feedback.
Documentation
- Maintain design libraries, artwork records, sample approvals, and technical specifications.
- Prepare design sheets and product specifications for production reference.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure designs meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Follow company policies regarding intellectual property and confidentiality.
- Maintain proper documentation for design approvals and revisions.
Eligibility
- Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Textile Technology, Surface Design, or a related field.
Desired Skills
- Basic knowledge of fabrics, yarns, color combinations, and textile manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or textile CAD software (preferred).
- Creativity with a strong sense of color, texture, and pattern.
- Good sketching and visualization skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office.
- Good communication, teamwork, and willingness to learn.
