RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Security Superintendent plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of the fleet and company operations. This position is responsible for implementing security protocols, maintaining compliance with international regulations, and promoting a culture of vigilance and awareness across the organization.
DUTIES
- Support the Security Director in executing the Security strategy and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the group’s Security plans for Office and Vessels .
- Act as the designated Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) for the fleet, ensuring compliance with ISPS Code requirements and conducting effective ship security assessments.
- Assist in coordinating verifications of ships by the Administration or recognised security organisations, and ensure that deficiencies identified during audits and inspections are promptly addressed
- Liaise with business units and vessel teams to ensure alignment on quality objectives and operational consistency.
- Promote security awareness and distribute updates across company and fleet
- Maintain security documentation and compile fleet security statistics and coordinate procurement of equipment
- Handle ISSC applications and support Ship Security Plan (SSP) development, updates, and assessments
- Participate in Management of Change (MoC) and coordinate fleet-wide security operations
- Monitor SSAS,LRIT etc and resolve deficiencies, and respond to security queries and emergencies
- Develop training materials and assist with security-related accounting and payments
- Assist in coordinate emergency response services
AUTHORITY
- Make decisions and act on behalf of the company within the scope of duties defined under this role.
- Not authorized to sign financial commitments or enter into contracts on behalf of OSM Thome or vessel owners.
- Exercise authority in accordance with the Company Authority Matrix.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES
- Minimum Diploma, preferably a Maritime Diploma.
- Preferably Class 1 or 2 Certificate of Competency either deck or engine or tertiary qualification
- Preferably 3 years working experience in related security work with a shipping company.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fresh Master Mariners and Chief Officers are also eligible.
