Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled L3 Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in Nokia network technologies to support and manage enterprise-scale LAN, WAN, and Data Centre environments . The candidate will be responsible and accountable for all incidents, problem management, and critical escalations involving Nokia devices across the infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Nokia 7750, 7250, and 7220 Spine-Leaf architecture , along with Nokia Service Platform (NSP) , and possess a deep understanding of enterprise networking concepts. The role requires proactive learning, ownership, and the ability to drive complex troubleshooting and network stability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
L3 SME Ownership & Accountability
- Act as the primary L3 SME for all Nokia-related infrastructure across LAN, WAN, and Data Centre networks .
- Take end-to-end ownership and accountability for major incidents (P1/P2) involving Nokia devices.
- Lead critical incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and problem management .
- Ensure SLA adherence with minimal downtime and efficient service restoration.
Nokia Platform Expertise
- Design, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize:
- Nokia 7750 SR Series
- Nokia 7250 IXR Series
- Nokia 7220 (Spine-Leaf Architecture)
- Provide expert-level support for complex network issues and escalations .
Service Configuration & Technologies
- Configure and manage Nokia technologies:
- Epipe – Point-to-point Layer 2 services
- IPIPE – Layer 2 IP interconnection services
- VPRN – Layer 3 VPN services
- VPLS – Multipoint Layer 2 VPN services
- Manage MPLS, VPNs, and QoS policies for enterprise-grade services.
Routing & Switching
- Implement and troubleshoot advanced protocols:
- Routing: BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP
- Switching: STP, RSTP, MSTP, HSRP, VRRP
- Handle traffic engineering, failover, and redundancy mechanisms.
Policy & Access Management
- Create and manage:
- Prefix lists
- Route policies
- Network access control policies
- Ensure optimal route control, filtering, and security compliance.
Nokia Service Platform (NSP)
- Perform advanced configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting using NSP.
- Ensure network visibility, automation, and operational efficiency .
Enterprise Data Centre & Network Architecture
- Work on large-scale enterprise network designs including:
- High availability and redundancy
- Spine-leaf architectures
- Data Centre interconnects
- Perform deep-dive analysis and capacity planning.
Incident & Problem Management
- Drive major incident bridges and stakeholder communication .
- Conduct RCA and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
- Mentor L1/L2 teams for faster resolution and knowledge uplift.
Technology Evolution & Learning
- Actively learn and adopt new networking technologies and automation tools .
- Continuously enhance deep understanding of enterprise networking ecosystems .
- Evaluate and recommend improvements in network design and operations.
Cross-Technology Collaboration
- Collaborate with teams managing Arista and other vendor devices (added advantage).
- Support integration across multi-vendor environments.
Automation & Innovation
- Leverage Python, Ansible, or scripting tools to automate network configurations and monitoring tasks.
Documentation & Governance
- Maintain detailed documentation for:
- Network designs
- Configurations
- SOPs and runbooks
- Ensure compliance with operational and security standards.
Qualifications & Skills
Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Nokia 7750, 7250, 7220 platforms
- Epipe, IPIPE, VPRN, VPLS
- BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS
- Deep understanding of enterprise LAN/WAN/Data Centre networks .
Tools & Platforms
- Proficiency in Nokia NSP
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Automation
- Knowledge of Python / Ansible / scripting for network automation
