Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Candle R&D and Quality Control Specialist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be the gatekeeper of our product quality, ensuring that every candle formulation meets our high standards for safety, aesthetics, and performance.
You will work directly in our laboratory and factory floor to verify formulations, test material compatibility, and oversee burn testing processes from raw material to finished product.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulation Verification: Check and verify candle compositions and raw material formulations before they go into full-scale production.
- Wax & Component Compatibility: Test and ensure that different waxes, additives, and fragrances dissolve properly, blend seamlessly, and are fully compatible.
- Burn Testing & Evaluation: Conduct rigorous burn testing (evaluating melt pools, flame height, soot levels, and scent throw) to ensure optimal and safe candle performance.
- Process Oversight: Monitor and ensure that the factory's standard production and tabbing processes are followed precisely.
- Fragrance Troubleshooting: Evaluate fragrance oil behavior within various wax bases to prevent sweating, discoloration, or separation.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed logs of formulation batches, test results, and burn performance charts.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in candle manufacturing, R&D, or quality control. (Experience in cosmetics, soap-making, or industrial fragrance formulation is also highly valued).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of different wax types (paraffin, soy, palm, blends), wick sizing, fragrance loading limits, and tabbing processes.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong attention to detail with a structured, scientific approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a factory/lab environment, handling hot wax and standing for periods during batch testing.
