This Position reports to:
Senior Project Lead Engineer
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.
The work model for the role is # LI - Hybrid.
This role is contributing to the to the Process Automation business in Energy Industries division based in Bangalore, India.
You will be mainly accountable for:
HFOTS PROPOSAL: Interpret RFPs., prepare technical proposals, develop effort estimates & BoM, provide commercial inputs, conduct client demonstrations, respond to RFIs., and benchmark against competitors.
Preparing list of key objectives along with Battery limits / boundaries for the OTS solution being offered.
HFOTS ENGINEERING & MODELLING: Develop steady state & dynamic process models using any commercially available process modelling solutions from 3rd party vendors like Aspen’s HYSYS Dynamics, INDISS Plus (CORYS) or any other proven process model development software. Interpret P&IDs, build thermodynamic models, validate models against plant data.
DCS INTEGRATION: Integrate HFOTS with ABB 800xA & Symphony Plus. Configure OPC UA/DA interfaces, I/O mapping, control logic emulation. Support FAT/SAT coordination.
SCENARIO DESIGN & TESTING: Design normal, abnormal & emergency training scenarios. Configure Instructor Station, develop Trainee Performance Assessment (TPA) frameworks. Execute Model Acceptance Test (MAT), FAT, SAT. Prepare technical documentation.
PROJECT EXECUTION: Manage project timelines & deliverables, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, identify technical risks, prepare engineering schedules, maintain documentation. Project travel to ABB’s other local division offices & customer locations as & when needed.

Qualifications for the role:
EXPERIENCE: 8~10 years – 3+ HFOTS projects, FAT/SAT leadership, proposal development lead (2+ proposals).
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: Process thermodynamics & unit operations with Process Model Development (Aspen HYSYS Dynamics, INDISS Plus CORYS – France), OPC UA/DA protocols, ABB 800xA system configuration, PID control, ISA-5.1/IEC 61511
PROPOSAL/PRE-SALES SKILLS: RFP Interpretations, HFOTS technical proposal writing, effort estimation & BoM development, Client facing presentations & HFOTS demonstrations, Competitive benchmarking, proposal template development.
SOFT SKILLS: Clear communication, client stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving proposal quality focus, mentoring capability.
KNOWLEDGE SHARING & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Evaluate emerging HFOTS tools, mentor engineers, prepare reusable simulation libraries & case studies
INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE: Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Power Generation, Pharmaceutical
EDUCATION: B.E./B. Tech Chemical/Mechanical Engineering (minimum); M.E./M. Tech preferred; Certifications: ABB 800xA/Any Control Systems, Aspen HYSYS, INDISS Plus (Process Engineering / OTS development software)
