Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and motivated Research Laboratory Assistants to join our research team. This position is ideal for candidates with a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or other related Life Sciences disciplines who are passionate about laboratory research and hands-on scientific work.
The selected candidates will assist in research activities by carrying out laboratory experiments, operating scientific instruments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting researchers in day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring adherence to laboratory safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory experiments and research activities as assigned by senior scientists or supervisors.
- Prepare samples, reagents, buffers, and chemical solutions following established protocols.
- Accurately weigh chemicals and samples using analytical and precision balances.
- Operate, maintain, and handle laboratory instruments such as analytical balances, pipettes, centrifuges, pH meters, hot plates, magnetic stirrers, incubators, spectrophotometers, and other routine laboratory equipment.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), laboratory protocols, and safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, experimental records, and documentation.
- Assist in sample preparation, data collection, inventory management, and laboratory housekeeping.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of laboratory chemicals and materials.
- Report equipment malfunctions, deviations, or safety concerns promptly.
- Perform additional research and laboratory-related tasks as assigned by the research team.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Good understanding of laboratory practices, scientific procedures, and laboratory safety.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and execute assigned tasks with accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a research team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a research, academic, analytical, industrial, or quality control laboratory is preferred.
- Hands-on experience operating common laboratory instruments and equipment is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), laboratory documentation, and SOPs is desirable.
- Internship, dissertation, research project, or industrial laboratory experience will be considered an added advantage.
