Job Description
In this role the person will be the responsible for ensuring success of business critical application operations by supporting the day to day batch processing, analyzing and fixing the issues on priority while adhering to standards and SLA's. The person should be able to support High priority(P1/P2) incidents dynamically by providing timely resolution for the problem and handle other service requests. The person will also be responsible for handling minor enhancements, perform code reviews, handle application outages(planned/unplanned) and responsible for performance and maintenance of the highly critical business application. For this role we are looking for a highly motivated Individual who will be working as Sr. operations analysts working in technologies such as Mainframe tech stack (JCL, COBOL, DB2), SQL Server, Linux etc. and operating in DevSecOps Model
The person should exhibit leadership qualities and demonstrate business accumen while working closely with business users to understand requirements and help team translate it into technical changes.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents related to AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL), Aurora PostgreSQL, and associated cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability.

Gauge the severity, urgency, and business impact of database and infrastructure incidents, driving timely resolution and stakeholder communication.

Manage, maintain, and enhance database infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

Design, implement, and support automation solutions for database provisioning, patching, upgrades, backups, disaster recovery, and operational processes.

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues and recommend permanent corrective actions to improve platform stability, performance, scalability, and resilience.

Collaborate with application, cloud, security, and DevOps teams to support database-related requirements and ensure adherence to organizational standards.

Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring.

Manage and support AWS services related to database platforms, including CloudWatch, SNS, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, Lambda, and other relevant services.

Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, backup, recovery, and security controls for database environments.

Participate in database migrations, version upgrades, and cloud modernization initiatives.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and standard operating procedures.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, operational excellence, and cost optimization.

Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to ensure efficient operation, support, and delivery of database platform services.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent.
-
4-7 years of experience in database administration, cloud infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or related disciplines.
-
4-7 years of hands-on experience managing relational database platforms, preferably Aurora Postgres, RDS PostgreSQL and MySQL.

Strong experience managing AWS RDS for PostgreSQL, RDS for MySQL, and Aurora PostgreSQL environments.

Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.

Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible.

Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, query optimization, execution plans, performance tuning, backup and recovery concepts.

Good understanding of database objects including schemas, tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, users, roles, and permissions.

Experience performing database upgrades, migrations, patching, and disaster recovery activities.
-
Working knowledge of AWS cloud services including IAM, CloudWatch, SNS, KMS, VPC, Security Groups, Lambda, and Secrets Manager.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform incident analysis and root cause investigations.

Knowledge of Linux administration and shell scripting.

Experience with monitoring and observability tools for database and infrastructure monitoring.

Understanding of change management, release management, and ITIL-based operational practices.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a global team environment.
Candidates with experience in the following areas will have an added advantage:

AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, Database Specialty, or equivalent).

Knowledge of Python or other scripting/programming languages for automation.

Experience with Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tools.

Familiarity with Jira, ServiceNow, and Agile delivery methodologies.

Exposure to database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls.

Experience supporting large-scale enterprise database environments.

Knowledge of NoSQL databases and modern cloud-native architectures.

Understanding of cost optimization and capacity planning within AWS environments.
