This is the senior backend engineering role at Lumenairi Labs and will serve as the technical owner of our platform’s backend architecture. You will be responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable backend services, APIs, database architecture, and AWS infrastructure that power both our React Native mobile applications and the Lumenairi Core Admin Dashboard.
We are transitioning from a single-client architecture (currently serving O’Reilly Auto Parts) to a true multi-tenant SaaS platform by the end of Q3 2026. Experience of leading backend architecture for this transformation by designing scalable APIs, implementing secure tenant isolation, optimizing database performance, and ensuring the platform is reliable, secure, and ready for enterprise growth.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the complete backend stack—from API design and database architecture to cloud infrastructure and deployment automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js
- Build secure, well-documented, and versioned REST APIs (GraphQL experience is a plus) that serve both the React Native applications and the Admin Dashboard.
- Design and optimize MongoDB Atlas data models, indexing strategies, aggregation pipelines, and query performance for a multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
- Architect and maintain AWS infrastructure, including:
- S3 for media storage as we are media heavy enthusiast
- IAM for secure access control
- CloudFront for CDN delivery
- Lambda for serverless workloads
- Additional AWS services as required
- Lead the migration from a single-tenant architecture to a scalable multi-tenant platform, including tenant onboarding, data migration, tenant configuration, and isolation strategies.
- Design authentication and authorization systems using JWT, OAuth, OTP, and role-based access control.
- Build asynchronous processing systems using queues, background workers, scheduled jobs, and event-driven workflows.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or similar deployment platforms.
- Good to have experience with Integration and maintenance of third-party services including:
- Twilio
- SendGrid
- Google APIs
- OpenAI
- Anthropic
- Monitor backend performance, troubleshoot production issues, optimize cloud costs, and ensure high system availability.
- Work closely with Mobile, Frontend, AI, and Media engineers to define backend contracts and scalable service boundaries.
- Contribute to enterprise readiness by implementing logging, auditing, encryption, monitoring, backup strategies, and security best practices aligned with SOC 2 and GDPR requirements.
- Document architectural decisions, backend workflows, deployment processes, and technical standards.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional backend development experience using Node.js or Python.
- Strong expertise in designing scalable backend architectures and production-grade APIs.
- Extensive experience with MongoDB, including:
- Schema design
- Index optimization
- Aggregation pipelines
- Performance tuning
- MongoDB Atlas administration
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, particularly:
- S3
- IAM
- Lambda
- CloudFront
- API Gateway
- CloudWatch
- Secrets Manager (preferred)
- Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, JWT, OAuth, RBAC, and API security.
- Experience building asynchronous systems using queues, workers, and scheduled jobs.
- Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, caching, monitoring, logging, and backend best practices.
- Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
