Role Summary
The Import Manager will lead end-to-end import operations and supplier coordination for critical automotive components sourced mainly from China and Korea. The role will ensure compliant and cost-effective inbound supply, improve supplier performance, and mitigate supply-chain risks through strong planning, logistics control, and documentation accuracy. Knowledge of aluminum metallurgy is essential for technical supplier alignment and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and improve import SOPs and compliance controls
- Plan and monitor import schedules aligned with production requirements
- Coordinate with China & Korea suppliers for dispatch and documentation
- Manage logistics, freight forwarders, and shipment tracking
- Ensure accurate shipping documents and customs clearance
- Track landed cost and drive cost optimization
- Support supplier development and commercial negotiations
- Monitor supplier performance (OTIF, quality, documentation accuracy)
- Coordinate technical discussions on aluminum alloys and castings
- Manage risks related to import delays and disruptions
- Lead import/logistics team and publish dashboards
