- A Cybersecurity Intern supports security teams by monitoring networks, analyzing threats, and helping with vulnerability assessments. Common tasks include using SIEM tools, conducting penetration tests (VAPT), and patching systems to protect IT infrastructure. This role requires foundational knowledge in networking, Linux, and security frameworks.
- Key Responsibilities
- Security Monitoring & Incident Response: Monitor security systems for threats, investigate suspicious activity, and assist in containing security breaches.
- Vulnerability Management: Assist in penetration testing (VAPT), vulnerability scans, and patching misconfigurations in cloud (AWS/Azure) or internal environments.
- Log Analysis & Investigation: Analyze logs from servers (Windows/Linux) and applications to identify security incidents.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain documentation regarding security incidents, audit findings, and risk assessments.
- Support & Research: Conduct research on emerging threats and support security staff with daily operational tasks.
- Common Qualifications & Skills.
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of network protocols (\(TCP/IP\)), operating systems (Windows/Linux), and security concepts (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
- Tools: Familiarity with tools like SIEM platforms, Splunk, Nmap, Burp Suite, or Wireshark.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn.
