We are looking for an experienced Operation & Maintenance Engineer to manage the day-to-day operation, preventive maintenance, and breakdown maintenance of Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations rated at 132kV, 220kV, 400kV, and 765kV. The ideal candidate will have hands-on exposure to AIS and GIS substation equipment, protection systems, and SCADA operations, and will play a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted, safe, and reliable power transmission.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor equipment performance and process parameters to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Identify and report abnormalities or issues to the Shift Supervisor / Shift-in-Charge without delay.
- Perform basic and routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and process deviations; support complex repairs alongside the maintenance team.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, statutory regulations, and company policies.
- Participate in safety training sessions and stay updated with the latest safety practices.
- Prepare shift reports detailing operational status, incidents, and corrective actions taken.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth shift handovers.
- Monitor product/process quality, report deviations, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Carry out routine operation, switching, and load-management activities at 132kV/220kV/400kV/765kV AIS and GIS substations.
- Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and breakdown maintenance of power transformers, ICTs, circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, PTs, surge arresters, and busbar systems.
- Monitor and maintain protection & control systems including numerical relays, distance protection, differential protection, and busbar protection schemes.
- Operate and monitor SCADA, RTU, and DCS systems for real-time substation monitoring and control.
- Carry out switching operations and issue/close Permit to Work (PTW) as per safety rules and Grid Code requirements.
- Coordinate with State/Regional Load Despatch Centre (SLDC/RLDC) for load scheduling, outages, and grid disturbances.
- Conduct fault analysis, root-cause investigation, and implement corrective and preventive actions for equipment trips/failures.
- Ensure statutory compliance with CEA (Central Electricity Authority), CEIG, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain substation log books, maintenance history records, and prepare shift/incident/MIS reports.
- Supervise contractor crews and junior operators during maintenance shutdowns and emergency restoration work.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, PPE usage, and Permit-to-Work / Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Support testing and commissioning activities for new bays, equipment upgrades, and capacity augmentation projects.
- Participate in emergency response and grid restoration during fault conditions or natural calamities.
- Liaise with OEMs and vendors for annual maintenance contracts (AMC), spares planning, and equipment upgrades.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
