The Manifold In-Charge is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the medical gas manifold system, ensuring uninterrupted and safe supply of medical gases (Oxygen, Nitrous Oxide, Air, Vacuum) to all hospital areas. The role is critical for patient safety, especially in ICUs, OTs, and emergency units.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Operation & Monitoring
- Monitor daily functioning of the medical gas manifold system
- Ensure continuous supply of oxygen and other medical gases
- Check pressure levels and alarm systems regularly
- Maintain logbooks for cylinder usage and system parameters
B. Cylinder Management
- Receive, inspect, and verify medical gas cylinders
- Ensure proper storage and segregation (full/empty cylinders)
- Replace cylinders safely and promptly
- Track cylinder inventory and consumption
C. Maintenance & Safety
- Perform routine inspection of pipelines, valves, regulators, and manifolds
- Identify and report leakages or faults immediately
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and fire regulations
D. Emergency Handling
- Respond immediately to gas supply failures or alarms
- Implement backup supply procedures
- Inform concerned departments and escalate issues promptly
E. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain records of gas usage, maintenance, and incidents
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and statutory requirements
- Assist in audits and inspections
F. Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors for cylinder supply and servicing
- Work closely with biomedical and maintenance teams
- Support clinical departments during emergencies
4. Qualifications & Skills
Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in medical gas manifold systems or similar role
- Experience in hospital setup preferred
Skills Required
- Knowledge of medical gas systems and safety protocols
- Ability to handle emergency situations
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Record-keeping and reporting skills
