Instrumentation Incharge Experience Profile: 3 to 5 Years | Department: Plant Maintenance & Automation The Instrumentation Incharge supervises daily maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all plant control systems. This role ensures minimal downtime, high equipment reliability, and strict compliance with safety protocols. The ideal candidate bridges field technicians and engineering leadership to maintain optimal process automation. Role Architecture Position: Instrumentation Incharge / Senior Engineer Experience Range: 3 to 5 years in a process or manufacturing plant Education: B.E or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering Reporting Hierarchy: Reports directly to the Plant Maintenance Manager / Engineering Head Core Responsibilities System Maintenance: Oversee continuous operation of PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI architectures. Calibration Management: Standardize and execute routine calibration schedules for transmitters, control valves, and sensors. Fault Isolation: Lead rapid troubleshooting of complex control loops, communication networks, and field instrument failures. Team Supervision: Direct daily tasks for a shift team of instrumentation technicians and external contractors. Inventory & Spares: Monitor critical spare parts stock, generate purchase requisitions, and verify vendor specifications. Safety & Compliance: Enforce Permit to Work (PTW) protocols, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) rules, and hazardous area standards. Technical Competencies Hardware Expertise: Working knowledge of major systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, ABB, Schneider, or Yokogawa). Field Instrumentation: Proven mastery over control valves, smart transmitters (pressure, flow, level, temperature), and analytical gauges. Industrial Protocols: Hands-on familiarity with HART, Profibus, Modbus, and Foundation Fieldbus communication networks. Documentation: Competency in reading and updating P&IDs, loop diagrams, cable schedules, and logic charts. Professional & Soft Skills Analytical Thinking: Excellent diagnostic skills under operational pressure to reduce plant downtime. Leadership: Ability to delegate tasks, mentor junior technicians, and coordinate with cross-functional maintenance teams. Communication: Clear reporting skills for technical logs, incident breakdowns, and daily shift handovers.
