Position Summary
Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR), Bhopal invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor – Chemistry in the Basic Science / Applied Science Department. The faculty member will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to academic and institutional development activities in accordance with UGC norms and institutional policies.
The incumbent is expected to foster scientific thinking, promote interdisciplinary learning, and actively contribute to research, innovation, and accreditation-related initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Academic Activities
- Teach Chemistry courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students as per the curriculum requirements.
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and practical demonstrations.
- Develop lesson plans, course files, laboratory manuals, assignments, and study materials.
- Evaluate student performance through examinations, quizzes, practical assessments, projects, and presentations.
- Integrate innovative teaching methodologies and technology-enabled learning practices.
Laboratory Management
- Conduct and supervise practical laboratory sessions safely and effectively.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, instruments, and records.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Assist in procurement and inventory management of laboratory resources.
Research and Development
- Undertake research activities in Chemistry and related interdisciplinary areas.
- Publish research papers in UGC-CARE, Scopus, Web of Science, or other reputed journals.
- Present research findings at national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Apply for funded research projects, consultancy assignments, and collaborative research opportunities.
- Encourage student participation in research and innovation activities.
Student Mentoring and Development
- Mentor and guide students in academic, research, and career-related matters.
- Support students in projects, internships, competitions, and higher education pursuits.
- Organize guest lectures, workshops, seminars, and scientific events.
Academic Administration
- Participate in curriculum design, revision, and implementation.
- Perform examination-related duties, admissions work, and committee responsibilities.
- Maintain departmental records and documentation.
- Contribute to institutional quality initiatives including NAAC, NBA, NIRF, and IQAC activities.
Institutional Responsibilities
- Participate in faculty development programs, training programs, and institutional events.
- Support outreach, extension, and community engagement activities.
- Perform additional academic and administrative duties assigned by the Institute from time to time.
Eligibility CriteriaEssential Qualifications (As per UGC Norms)
- Master's Degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 65% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized University.
- Must have qualified UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/SLET/SET in the relevant subject.
OR
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related discipline in accordance with UGC Regulations, with exemption from NET/SLET/SET as applicable under UGC norms.
ExperienceFor Assistant Professor
- Candidates meeting UGC eligibility criteria may apply.
- 2–5 years of teaching, research, laboratory, or relevant industry experience will be preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
- Experience in handling Chemistry laboratories and practical sessions.
- Research publications in reputed journals.
- Experience in accreditation and quality assurance activities (NAAC/NBA).
- Participation in funded research projects, consultancy assignments, patents, or innovation activities.
Desired Skills and Competencies
- Strong subject knowledge in Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Analytical, and Applied Chemistry.
- Excellent teaching, communication, and presentation skills.
- Research aptitude and scientific writing skills.
- Laboratory management and safety awareness.
- Proficiency in MS Office, digital teaching platforms, and scientific software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary academic environments.

- As per UGC norms, AICTE guidelines (where applicable), and the rules of Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Bhopal.
