The Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, concrete production, and finished concrete comply with the company's quality standards, client specifications, and relevant Indian Standards (IS Codes).
Key Responsibilities1. Raw Material Inspection & Testing
- Inspect and test all incoming raw materials such as:
- Cement
- Fine Aggregate (Sand)
- Coarse Aggregate
- Water
- Chemical Admixtures
- Mineral Admixtures (Fly Ash, GGBS, Silica Fume, etc.)
- Verify supplier test certificates.
- Reject non-conforming materials.
- Maintain records of all test reports.
2. Concrete Mix Design
- Prepare and optimize concrete mix designs as per project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with IS 10262 and client specifications.
- Monitor workability, strength, and durability.
- Modify mix proportions whenever required.
3. Production Quality Monitoring
- Monitor batching plant operations.
- Verify accurate weighing and batching of materials.
- Ensure correct dosage of admixtures.
- Check moisture corrections before batching.
- Prevent production of off-spec concrete.
4. Fresh Concrete Testing
Conduct routine tests such as:
- Slump Test
- Temperature Test
- Density Test
- Air Content Test (where applicable)
- Sampling of concrete cubes/cylinders
- Visual inspection of concrete consistency
5. Hardened Concrete Testing
- Cube Compressive Strength Test (7 & 28 Days)
- Water absorption test (if required)
- Core test coordination
- Durability-related testing
- Maintain strength records.
6. Laboratory Management
- Maintain laboratory equipment.
- Ensure calibration of testing equipment.
- Maintain curing tanks.
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness and safety.
- Monitor stock of laboratory consumables.
7. Site Quality Support
- Visit project sites when required.
- Resolve concrete-related quality issues.
- Guide customers regarding placing and curing.
- Investigate customer complaints.
- Coordinate with site engineers.
8. Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain:
- Daily QC Reports
- Cube Register
- Slump Register
- Raw Material Test Register
- Calibration Records
- Mix Design Files
- Concrete Dispatch Quality Records
- NCR (Non-Conformance Reports)
- Corrective Action Reports
9. Calibration & Equipment Verification
Ensure timely calibration of:
- Compression Testing Machine (CTM)
- Weighing balances
- Cube moulds
- Moisture meters
- Thermometers
- Slump cones
- Batching plant weighing systems
10. Compliance with Standards
Ensure compliance with:
- IS 456 – Plain & Reinforced Concrete
- IS 10262 – Concrete Mix Design
- IS 4926 – Ready Mixed Concrete
- IS 1199 – Sampling & Testing of Concrete
- IS 516 – Strength Testing of Concrete
- Relevant client specifications
11. Quality Audits
- Participate in internal quality audits.
- Support ISO 9001 audits.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Close audit observations promptly.
12. Coordination
Coordinate with:
- Production Department
- Dispatch Team
- Purchase Department
- Site Engineers
- Clients
- Suppliers
- Plant Manager
13. Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all plant safety procedures.
- Use PPE at all times.
- Ensure safe handling of cement and chemicals.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory.
Daily Responsibilities
- Check raw material quality before production.
- Perform slump tests for dispatched concrete.
- Cast and label concrete cubes.
- Monitor batching accuracy.
- Inspect moisture content of aggregates.
- Verify admixture dosage.
- Record test results.
- Attend quality-related production meetings.
- Resolve quality issues immediately.

Qualification
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 2–5 years in an RMC plant, concrete laboratory, or construction quality control.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
