Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily coding operations, ensuring high levels of accuracy, and maintaining productivity standards. This role requires an expert-level understanding of surgical ophthalmology coding and the ability to bridge communication between clients and the coding team.
Key Responsibilities:

Coding Expertise: In-depth knowledge of E/M levelling and Ophthalmology-specific coding guidelines, including the expert use of modifiers (e.g., -24, -25, -54, -55, -79) [2, 4].

Surgical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of procedural coding for:

Cataract and Glaucoma surgeries.

Cornea and Retina procedures.

Oculoplastic, specifically Blepharoplasty.

Diagnostic Testing: Comprehensive experience in coding all types of Ophthalmology diagnostic tests (e.g., OCT, Visual Fields, B-scans, Fluorescein Angiography).

Software: Mandatory proficiency in MS Office (specifically Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for team presentations).
Experience and Certification (Recommended)

Experience: 5+ years of Ophthalmology coding experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or senior/SME role.
Certification: CCS/CPC Mandatory.
