In this role, you will join ABB's Automation Digital Organization to develop next-generation AI, Machine Learning, and Optimization solutions for industrial automation. You will design and implement advanced analytical models, optimization algorithms, and digital applications that improve asset performance, manufacturing efficiency, and process optimization. Working closely with domain experts, product teams, and customers, you will translate complex industrial challenges into scalable, data-driven solutions that deliver measurable business value.

Design and develop machine learning, statistical, and optimization models to solve industrial asset health, process optimization, scheduling, and predictive analytics challenges.

Build scalable AI/ML and optimization solutions by leveraging modern programming frameworks, optimization solvers, and cloud-native technologies for integration into ABB's digital products.

Collaborate with customers, domain experts, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop proof of concepts, validate business value, and deliver customer-centric industrial digital solutions.

Drive continuous innovation by evaluating emerging AI, machine learning, and optimization techniques while contributing to reusable frameworks, best practices, and product roadmap initiatives.

Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.

4–8 years of experience developing AI/ML, optimization, or advanced analytics solutions, preferably for industrial or manufacturing applications.

Strong programming expertise in Python (preferred), with experience in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and optimization libraries including SciPy Optimize, Google OR-Tools, IBM CPLEX, or Gurobi.

Solid understanding of optimization techniques, including Linear Programming, Mixed Integer Programming (MILP/MINLP), Constraint Programming, Multi-objective Optimization, Scheduling, and metaheuristic algorithms.

Experience with cloud-native technologies and MLOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and MLflow is desirable.

Exposure to industrial automation, process industries, predictive maintenance, process control, Model Predictive Control (MPC), or industrial equipment analytics will be an added advantage.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with global cross-functional teams.
