Purpose :
Worley is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to define and deliver integrated digital, OT, IT, data, application, infrastructure, integration, and security architectures for major industrial programs. The role will translate business and operational objectives into practical solution designs, architecture artefacts, integration models, and implementation-ready guidance supporting procurement, vendor assessment, FEED delivery, and project execution. The ideal candidate will bring strong architecture capability, practical IT/OT integration experience, cybersecurity-by-design awareness, and the ability to align client, engineering, vendor, and delivery stakeholders around secure, scalable, and operationally maintainable outcomes.
The Role
As a Senior Digital Solutions Consultant with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.
- Develop solution architectures across technology, application, data, integration, infrastructure, OT, IT, and security domains, ensuring alignment with client reference models and delivery-phase requirements.
- Translate enterprise architecture, business objectives, and operational requirements into actionable solution designs that guide procurement, vendor assessment, implementation planning, and project execution.
- Produce implementation-focused architecture artefacts, including system context diagrams, logical and physical architecture views, integration models, infrastructure deployment views, network segmentation concepts, platform deployment views, application interface definitions, and architecture decision records.
- Define integration and interoperability models across industrial levels 1-4, including OT/IT convergence, edge/cloud hybrid deployments, data exchange patterns, secure connectivity, and segmented network architectures.
- Apply architecture governance to ensure solutions meet client standards, engineering requirements, cybersecurity expectations, and applicable industrial frameworks such as IEC 62443, ISA-95, OPC UA, MQTT, and other relevant integration patterns.
- Collaborate with internal and client-side stakeholders, including OT, IT, cybersecurity, telecommunications, control systems, digital, operations, project delivery, vendors, and system integrators, to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and coordinate architecture inputs.
- Support traceability of business, operational, functional, non-functional, and technical requirements through architecture artefacts and requirements management tools.
- Assess vendor and system integrator solutions for functional alignment, technical feasibility, interoperability, cybersecurity, maintainability, scalability, and lifecycle suitability.
- Contribute to risk assessments, cost-benefit analysis, project option selection, transition planning, and FEED-to-delivery handover.
- Support design reviews, workshops, procurement packages, tender responses, implementation planning, and executive-level technical briefings.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to multidisciplinary teams while maintaining alignment with project governance, quality, safety, and delivery assurance processes.
- Identify architecture risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and decisions, and support their resolution through structured engagement with stakeholders.
- Maintain awareness of emerging industrial digital, OT networking, cybersecurity, cloud, edge, data, and automation technologies and apply them pragmatically where they provide measurable client value.
About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:
- Deep experience in solution architecture across technology, application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security domains.
- Strong understanding of OT and IT networking technologies, including segmented networks, SDN, SD-WAN, MPLS, hosting services, cloud networks, secure remote access, and IT/OT convergence strategies.
- Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems architectures, including fixed and wireless networks, telemetry, SCADA, PLCs, DCS, historians, edge systems, and the transport of critical production data.
- Experience developing high-fidelity architecture artefacts that support system procurement, design validation, implementation planning, and stakeholder decision-making.
- Practical understanding of IT/OT system interoperability in mining, resources, utilities, oil and gas, or other large-scale industrial programs.
- Knowledge of integration patterns and protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT, API gateways, message brokers, industrial data platforms, and secure data exchange across OT and enterprise environments.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity-by-design principles, including network segmentation, Zero Trust concepts, defence-in-depth, access control, secure interfaces, and industrial cybersecurity standards.
- Ability to align diverse technical stakeholders through structured architecture methods, workshops, design reviews, decision records, and clear visual communication.
- Experience in hybrid cloud-edge deployments, remote operations concepts, platform orchestration, digital integration, and secure connectivity for operational environments.
- Ability to support cost, risk, schedule, procurement, vendor, and delivery decisions with architecture-led evidence and traceability.
Other Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Control Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in solution architecture, systems architecture, digital architecture, OT/IT architecture, or industrial technology architecture within mining, resources, energy, utilities, oil and gas, or large-scale industrial environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business, operational, and engineering requirements into practical, implementable architecture solutions.
- Experience producing architecture artefacts, architecture decisions, technical assessments, solution options, system interface definitions, and implementation-supporting documentation.
- Experience collaborating with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, OT, IT, telecommunications, control systems, digital, operations, vendor, and project delivery teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex architecture concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of project delivery lifecycles from concept and FEED through detailed design, implementation support, commissioning, and handover.
- Architecture certifications such as TOGAF, SABSA, ArchiMate, Azure/AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent practical credentials.
- Network, cybersecurity, or OT credentials such as CCNP, IEC 62443 Foundation/Practitioner, CISSP, GICSP, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with architecture modelling, requirements traceability, and portfolio tools such as Orbus Infinity, ArchiMate-based tooling, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with industrial digital platforms, data platforms, edge computing, cloud integration, remote operations, autonomous systems, and critical communications environments.
- Experience supporting procurement, vendor assessment, RFP/RFQ development, technical bid evaluation, and implementation transition planning.
- Structured, pragmatic, and outcome-focused, with the ability to navigate technical ambiguity and convert complex requirements into clear architecture direction.
- Able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail in complex, multidisciplinary delivery environments.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients, vendors, peers, senior management, executives, and multidisciplinary project teams.
