Learn how a ₹5 crore media budget actually gets spent.
ATL, which is television, radio, print and cinema, is where the largest budgets in Indian advertising still sit beyond Digital. At Excellent Publicity you will work on it directly: planning, negotiating, booking and reporting campaigns for brands across FMCG, healthcare, education, BFSI, manufacturing, retail and more.
Since 2011 we have planned and bought media for 5,000+ brands across 3,00,000+ successful campaigns. We are an energetic team across Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune & Dubai, with a strong in-house tech team building superlative AI-powered products, having built & released two such products already: EPitch, which builds detailed media plans & strategies in hours that most agencies take a fortnight to produce, and Atlas, which makes offline advertising as measurable & transparent as digital.
This is the craft side of the business. If sales is about winning the mandate, this role is about spending the money well enough that the client comes back next year.
What you will actually do
- Build media plans. Plan the right media mix, budget allocation, and market focus based on campaign objectives and target audience. Use Excel and EPitch to prepare and manage media plans.
- Negotiate with media owners. TV networks, radio stations, newspaper groups, cinema chains. You build the relationships and you push for the rate.
- Run the campaign. Release orders, material deadlines, scheduling, on-ground verification, make-goods when something does not run as booked.
- Report to the client. Post-campaign analysis covering what ran, what it cost, and what it delivered against plan.
- Own the relationship. On your accounts, day to day, you are the person the client calls.
Your first 90 days
1st - 3rd Week: Media fundamentals: how TV, print, radio and cinema are planned, priced and audited. Learn to read BARC and IRS data. Be in the room in real client meetings. Build Plans under supervision.
4th - 8th Week: Build plans under supervision. Handle release orders and vendor coordination on live campaigns. Co-own the executions of campaigns end-to-end.
9th - 12th Week: Own the execution of a campaign end to end, with a full post-campaign report presented to the client.
Who we are looking for:
- Genuinely comfortable with numbers. You will live in Excel: pivot tables, lookups, and a plan that reconciles to the rupee.
- Organised to the point of being slightly irritating about it. Campaigns fail on missed deadlines, not bad strategy.
- Willing to negotiate. A large part of this job is asking a vendor for a better rate and not accepting the first answer.
- Clear written English. Client emails are half the job.
- Any graduate. Mass communication, advertising, commerce or statistics backgrounds adapt fastest, but we have trained people from all of them.
Bonus: familiarity with BARC, TAM, IRS or RAM data, or any prior agency or media-owner internship.
What you will earn:
- Fixed CTC - ₹2,80,000 - ₹4,00,000 p.a.
- Performance bonus- Up to one month's fixed, annually, on plan quality and client retention
- Also, Exposure to national brand campaigns from month one, and full training on BARC, IRS and planning tools, as applicable
- Where this goes - Associate Media Manager, then Media Manager at 18-24 months, then Senior Media Manager or Vertical Lead. ATL specialists are scarce and get more valuable every year. This is a career, not a stopgap.
