Role Summary
We're looking for a Visual Designer for the Tiles category who can go beyond execution, someone who studies the market, spots what's missing in our collection, and turns that insight into display boards, store visuals, and merchandising tools that actually help customers choose. This role sits at the intersection of design craft and category thinking: half research and trend-spotting, half hands-on visual/display design to improve the category sales by 100x.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Industry & Market Research
Track tile, surface, and adjacent-category (quartz, wall cladding) design trends across India and globally - colours, textures, formats, finishes.
Conduct primary research: factory visits, vendor conversations, store walk-throughs, competitor benchmarking.
Conduct secondary research: industry reports, exhibitions, social media and marketing trend tracking, competitor catalogues.
Translate research into actionable insights - what to add, drop, or reposition in the portfolio.
2. Portfolio Development & Curation
Identify gaps in the existing tile/quartz portfolio versus market demand and competitor offerings.
Shortlist new SKUs in collaboration with the sourcing and vendor management team.
Build and maintain a well-structured “ideal portfolio” / collection framework, organised by category, style, and use-case.
3. Visual Merchandizing
Design display boards across store formats basis collection portfolio.
Curate store wise collections basis region wise nuances and other marketing trends
4. Data & Reporting
Maintain simple dashboards to track industry trends, portfolio performance, and marketing/ad trends relevant to the category.
Present research and design recommendations to category and leadership teams in a clear, structured format.
5. Store Enablement & Training
Create training material for store/BM teams covering colour themes, pricing logic, and how to educate customers using technical specs.
Support store teams with the reasoning behind design and portfolio choices so it translates into better in-store selling.
Required Skills:
- Strong design sense - layout, colour, typography, and visual merchandising fundamentals.
- Comfortable with design tools: Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator / InDesign (or equivalent); CorelDRAW is a plus.
- Research orientation: genuinely curious about market trends, comfortable doing both desk research and on-ground (factory/store) visits.
- Analytical thinking - able to spot portfolio gaps and back design decisions with data, not just aesthetic preference.
- Project management - can independently manage boards-to-store mapping, timelines, and multiple vendor/stakeholder inputs.
- Communication - able to present insights and design rationale clearly to cross-functional teams (vendor management, sourcing, stores, marketing).
- Detail-oriented and execution-focused - comfortable owning a task from research through to a print-ready, store-ready output.
Experience Range:
0-2 years of experience in visual design, retail/display design, or category design - building materials, home decor, furnishing background preferred. Prior exposure to tiles, ceramics, quartz, surfaces, or interior-adjacent categories is a strong plus, though not mandatory.
Pay Structure:
- Fixed Salary: ₹8,000,000 – ₹1,000,000 per annum (8 – 10 LPA)
- Performance Bonus: Up to ₹1,000,000 per annum, paid out quarterly (₹25,000/quarter)
Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Health insurance
- Leave encashment
- Paid sick time
