This targeted New Product Development (NPD) Manager job description is tailored for the auto component industry, emphasizing plastic molding and sheet metal operations.
Job Summary As the NPD Manager, you will lead the end-to-end development of automotive components from the Request for Quote (RFQ) to the Start of Production (SOP). You will bridge customer requirements with in-house tool room capabilities, production, and quality to ensure flawless launches of stamped and molded products.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Program Management: Manage cross-functional teams (CFT) to ensure NPD projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to customer specifications. Track milestones from concept through tooling trials and mass production.
- Technical & Design Feasibility: Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews to optimize part design for tooling feasibility in both plastic injection molding and sheet metal stamping.
- Tooling & Process Development: Oversee the design and development of injection molds, progressive/stamping dies, and fixtures. Manage tooling trials, troubleshoot part defects, and fine-tune process parameters.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with automotive quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949). Drive core quality tools: APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Customer & Vendor Interface: Act as the primary technical contact for OEM customers regarding design changes, technical approvals, and product validation. Manage suppliers and tooling vendors for outsourced components and tool fabrication.
- Cost Optimization: Conduct feasibility costing, manage product development budgets, and drive Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) to reduce part cost.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
