Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. The Occupational Therapist will assess, plan, and implement therapeutic interventions that help patients develop, recover, and maintain daily living, social, vocational, and cognitive skills necessary for independent and meaningful participation in life.
Key Responsibilities: Clinical Assessment & Treatment
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for psychiatric patients.
- Evaluate patients' functional abilities, cognitive skills, social interaction, emotional regulation, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and rehabilitation goals.
- Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions for patients with mental health disorders.
Therapeutic Interventions
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
- Facilitate activities focused on:
- Daily living skills (grooming, hygiene, self-care)
- Social skills training
- Cognitive rehabilitation
- Stress management and coping skills
- Vocational rehabilitation and work readiness
- Leisure and recreational activities
- Promote patient independence and community reintegration.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Prepare periodic reports on patient progress and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and clinical documentation standards.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric social workers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, and ward rounds.
- Provide recommendations regarding patient rehabilitation and discharge planning.
Patient & Family Education
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding therapeutic activities and rehabilitation goals.
- Provide guidance to families on supporting patients' functional recovery at home and in the community.
Quality & Safety
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards of occupational therapy practice.
- Follow infection control, safety, and hospital protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BOT) or Master's Degree (MOT) in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the relevant Occupational Therapy Council/Association (if applicable).
- Experience in Psychiatry, Mental Health, Neurorehabilitation, or Rehabilitation settings preferred.
Skills Required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Excellent observation, assessment, and documentation skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a patient-centered approach.
Preferred Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in a psychiatric hospital, rehabilitation center, de-addiction center, or mental health facility.
- Freshers with strong clinical exposure in psychiatry may also be considered.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
