Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Tooling Head to lead and manage the complete Tool Room operations for our Injection Moulding Plant. The candidate will be responsible for mould development, mould maintenance, troubleshooting, tool trials and ensuring maximum mould availability for production.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete Tool Room / Tooling Department.
- Handle Injection Mould Design, Development, Maintenance and Modification.
- Plan and monitor Preventive & Breakdown Mould Maintenance.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance and PPC teams for mould-related requirements.
- Conduct mould trials, tool validation and troubleshooting.
- Identify and resolve mould defects such as flash, short moulding, sink marks, warpage, dimensional issues, etc.
- Monitor mould life, maintenance history and spare-parts requirements.
- Ensure timely availability of moulds as per production planning.
- Manage external mould/tool vendors and job work activities.
- Review new mould development and ensure proper tool quality before production approval.
- Maintain complete Tool Room MIS, mould history, maintenance records and documentation.
- Control tooling cost and support cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure proper handling, storage and preservation of moulds.
- Lead and develop Tool Room technicians, mould maintenance staff and other team members.
- Ensure compliance with 5S, safety and company quality procedures.
- Support continuous improvement, productivity enhancement and reduction of mould-related rejection/downtime.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Plastic Injection Moulds.
- Good understanding of mould construction, components and working principles.
- Experience in mould maintenance, repair, modification and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of hot runner, hydraulic/pneumatic systems and mould cooling systems preferred.
- Ability to read and understand 2D/3D mould drawings.
- Knowledge of mould trials and process-related mould issues.
- Strong vendor management and team-handling skills.
- Good knowledge of Excel, MIS and maintenance documentation.
Candidate Profile
- Diploma/B.Tech in Mechanical / Tool & Die / Production Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant Injection Moulding Tool Room experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving ability.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Candidate should be capable of independently handling the Tooling Department.
