An IT Technician provides technical support to users, maintains computer systems, and ensures the smooth operation of hardware, software, and network infrastructure. The role involves diagnosing issues, installing systems, and assisting employees with IT-related problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and networks
- Troubleshoot system and network issues, diagnosing faults and resolving them promptly
- Provide technical support to staff (in person, phone, or remote)
- Set up new user accounts, permissions, and passwords
- Maintain and monitor IT systems, ensuring security and performance
- Perform routine system updates, backups, and maintenance
- Repair or replace faulty equipment such as desktops, laptops, printers, and routers
- Document technical procedures, issues, and solutions
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and cybersecurity standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
- Proven experience as an IT Technician or similar role
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Familiarity with networking concepts (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP)
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity practices
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
