We are looking for a Video Editor specialised in Reels & Short-Form Social Content who can consistently create high-retention, scroll-stopping videos. You will work closely with founders, marketers, and designers to turn raw footage, scripts, and ideas into reels that gain traction, engagement, and reach.
This is not a long-form YouTube editing role. This is a short-form fast-paced editing role, but you may get a few long-form videos.
- Editors focused only on long-form YouTube videos
- Editors who rely only on heavy effects, not storytelling
- Those unaware of current Instagram / Reels trends
- People uncomfortable with fast-paced, feedback-driven environments
- Edit Instagram Reels / Shorts / Ad creatives optimised for attention and retention
- Apply trend-relevant music, fonts, captions, pacing, and transitions
- Understand and implement hook-first editing (first 2–3 seconds matter most)
- Add on-screen text, captions, emojis, overlays that improve watch time
- Adapt content formats based on platform trends and algorithm behaviour
- Repurpose long videos into high-performing short clips
- Collaborate with marketing team for ad creatives and performance content
- Maintain brand consistency across different client and internal brands
- Strong experience editing short-form vertical videos (Reels/Shorts)
- Solid understanding of music selection, beat matching, and pacing
- Good eye for typography, font pairing, spacing, and visual hierarchy
- Clear understanding of what works on social media today, not last year
- Tools you must be comfortable with
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- After Effects (basic motion, text animations, transitions)
- CapCut (for fast trend-based edits)
- AI & new-age editing (important at NexGi)
- You actively experiment with AI-assisted video workflows
- You should be familiar with or open to using
- Google Veo 3.1
- Kling AI
- Other AI video generation / enhancement tools
- AI-based background generation, b-roll creation, transitions, and effects
- You don’t need to be an expert—but curiosity and adaptability are mandatory.
- Experience editing founder-led content
- Understanding of social media trends, formats, and viral patterns
- Ability to suggest improvements in hooks, pacing, or visual treatment
- Experience editing ad creatives for Meta / YouTube Shorts
- Basic understanding of branding and performance marketing content
- Your showreel / portfolio
- Your understanding of why a reel works
- Your ability to follow trends without copying blindly
- Speed, consistency, and attention to detail
