Position description: The role involves leading quality assurance initiatives within the Central QA department at Jindal Ferrous Limited, a key player in the Mining & Metals industry. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance in the Blast Oxygen Furnace (BOF) operations. This position requires a seasoned engineering professional with a strong background in metallurgical processes, quality control systems, and regulatory adherence. The role demands collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, implement robust quality management frameworks, and support operational excellence in a complex industrial environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance protocols specific to BOF operations to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for quality deviations and process non-conformities in the production cycle.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and R&D teams to optimize metallurgical processes and enhance product quality.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of BOF processes, equipment, and output to identify areas for improvement and risk mitigation.
- Prepare detailed quality reports and present findings to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement projects using Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other quality methodologies to increase operational efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations within the QA framework to maintain a safe working environment.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and QA staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to establish quality benchmarks and ensure raw material compliance.
- Stay updated with advancements in metallurgical engineering and quality assurance technologies relevant to the mining and metals sector.
