Role Summary
Responsible for designing, developing, and documenting electrical systems and wiring solutions for industrial equipment. The role involves creating circuit diagrams, building prototypes, preparing process documentation for the production team, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical components.
Key ResponsibilitiesCircuit Design & Documentation
- Design, draw, and interpret electrical circuit diagrams and schematics using industry-standard tools.
- Document circuit designs in clear, structured formats suitable for transfer to the production and assembly team.
- Prepare detailed wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and BOMs (Bill of Materials) for manufacturing reference.
- Ensure all documentation meets internal standards and is revision-controlled for accuracy.
Prototyping & Process Development
- Build and test electrical prototypes to validate design concepts before production release.
- Develop step-by-step electrical wiring process instructions for the assembly team, ensuring clarity and repeatability.
- Define and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for electrical wiring and assembly activities.
- Conduct trial runs and refine processes based on feedback from the shop floor.
PLC Wiring & Control Systems
- Perform and oversee PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) panel wiring, termination, and commissioning.
- Candidates with hands-on experience in PLC wiring and control panel assembly are strongly preferred.
- Understand control logic requirements and translate them into practical wiring solutions.
- Liaise with automation/PLC programming teams to ensure wiring aligns with the control architecture.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Mechanical Design team to ensure proper fitment and integration of electrical components within the equipment enclosure.
- Coordinate with procurement to source and evaluate electrical components and suggest alternatives when required.
- Communicate design updates and revisions clearly to the production and quality teams.
- Participate in design review meetings and contribute technical inputs for overall product improvement.
Product Improvement & Research
- Continuously study and analyse the company's existing manufactured equipment to identify areas for improvement.
- Research new and upgraded electrical components, technologies, and industry trends to enhance product performance and reliability.
- Propose and implement design improvements to reduce cost, improve efficiency, or enhance product quality.
- Maintain awareness of applicable standards and ensure designs remain compliant.
Site Visits & Vendor Coordination
- Travel to customer sites for installation support, inspections, troubleshooting, and feedback collection.
- Visit vendors and suppliers for component evaluation, quality inspections, and sourcing discussions.
- Represent the company professionally during external visits and maintain proper site visit reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in reading, drawing, and interpreting electrical circuit diagrams and wiring schematics.
- Hands-on experience with PLC panel wiring and control panel assembly is strongly preferred.
- Ability to build prototypes and develop clear electrical assembly process documentation.
- Good understanding of electrical components, control systems, and industrial wiring standards.
- Strong coordination and communication skills for working with mechanical designers and production teams.
- Self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn and improve.
- Proficient in computer operations including MS Office and electrical design/drafting tools (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, can also do in canva, ppt, etc.)
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and vendor locations as required.
Physical Requirement
- Must be physically fit to work on prototypes, handle equipment, and actively engage in shop floor and site activities.
