Job Title: Sales Engineer
Job Summary
The Sales Engineer is responsible for achieving sales targets by identifying business opportunities, generating leads, and converting them into confirmed orders. The role involves customer interaction, technical discussions, proposal preparation, negotiation, and coordination with internal teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
Job Context
The Sales Engineer works closely with customers, consultants, and internal departments such as design, production, and projects to manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation to project commissioning. The role requires strong technical understanding, relationship management, and market awareness to support the company’s growth and expansion.
Key Responsibilities
· Achieve monthly and yearly sales / order booking targets through effective planning and execution.
· Generate leads, meet customers, understand requirements, and recommend suitable technical solutions.
· Prepare techno-commercial offers, conduct negotiations (price, terms, delivery), and ensure timely order closure.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, and key decision-makers to generate repeat business.
· Take end-to-end ownership from Purchase Order to project commissioning, including MOM handover.
· Coordinate internally and with customers for proposal preparation, project updates, and delivery commitments.
· Handle customer visits, pre-dispatch inspections, and support smooth erection and commissioning activities.
· Take complete ownership of customer complaints by analyzing issues, coordinating internally, and ensuring proper closure.
· Provide proactive customer support and handling in urgent situations.
· Participate in domestic and international exhibitions and support preparation of marketing materials (print and digital).
· Maintain an updated sales pipeline, forecasting reports, and customer database in MIS.
· Ensure timely submission of sales reports and data to the Business Development Head / Director.
· Follow sales process discipline, activity reporting, and company guidelines.
Knowledge & Skills
· Strong technical understanding of capital equipment / special purpose machines (SPM).
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
· Good customer relationship management skills.
· Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
· Ability to analyze market trends and customer requirements.
Experience Required
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in direct sales of:
- Capital Equipment
- Special Purpose Machines (SPM)
- Industrial / Engineering products
Education
BE Mechanical
Other Requirements
· Target-oriented and self-motivated professional.
· Willingness to travel extensively (domestic and international).
