About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer – Commodity Engineer to design, develop, test, maintain, and continuously improve software applications and products that meet customer and business requirements.
The role involves participation across the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including software architecture, application development, testing, deployment, performance optimization, security, and application support.
The candidate will work closely with customers, product owners, designers, architects, and other cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver scalable, secure, and user-centric software solutions.
A key responsibility of this position will be to manage and support a SOX application, making experience with enterprise applications, application controls, and compliance-oriented environments highly valuable.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to understand their use cases, pain points, and business requirements.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications throughout the SDLC.
- Analyze complex technical problems and develop effective, scalable solutions.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technology stacks, integration approaches, and deployment strategies.
- Create high-level software architecture and define application components, interfaces, and integrations.
- Develop and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices using appropriate server-side technologies.
- Develop user-friendly and interactive interfaces where required.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, architects, QA teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Define and implement software testing strategies, guidelines, and processes.
- Follow software engineering best practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Delivery (CD).
- Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and overall development efficiency.
- Implement appropriate security practices to safeguard user and business data, including encryption and anonymization where applicable.
- Support application deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and production issues.
- Manage and support a SOX application, ensuring application processes and controls align with organizational compliance requirements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their applicability to existing and future solutions.
- Contribute to the evolution of technology stacks and application architecture.
- Work in an Agile development environment and participate in relevant ceremonies and delivery activities.
Experience Requirements
- 6+ years of overall IT experience
- 4+ years of software development experience
- Practical experience in 2 programming languages, or advanced practical experience in 1 programming language
- Experience across the software development lifecycle
- Experience working with relational databases and data modeling
- Experience developing and maintaining enterprise software applications
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience in application support and maintenance
- Ability to manage/support a SOX application
