The QA & QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all transformers manufactured by Fatehpuria Transformers meet customer specifications, applicable Indian and international standards, and internal quality requirements. The role involves inspection of incoming materials, monitoring production processes, conducting routine and final inspections, supporting testing activities, maintaining quality documentation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This aligns with common transformer manufacturing quality responsibilities across the industry.
Key Responsibilities1. Incoming Quality Control (IQC)
- Inspect incoming raw materials and bought-out components.
- Verify vendor test certificates and material traceability.
- Ensure CRGO, copper/aluminium conductors, insulation materials, transformer oil, bushings, tap changers, radiators and accessories conform to specifications.
- Raise NCRs for non-conforming materials.
2. In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)
Monitor quality during:
- Core Cutting
- Core Stacking
- HV Winding
- LV Winding
- Coil Insulation
- Core Coil Assembly
- Tanking
- Oil Filling
- Final Assembly
Perform:
- Stage inspections
- Dimensional checks
- Process verification
- Workmanship inspection
- Identification of manufacturing defects
3. Final Quality Inspection
Verify:
- Name plate details
- Accessories
- Painting quality
- Dimensions
- Earthing
- Tightness checks
- Oil level
- Silica gel condition
- Marshalling box
- Packing readiness
Ensure transformer complies with approved drawings before testing.
4. Testing & Inspection
Coordinate and witness:
- IR Test
- Winding Resistance Test
- Voltage Ratio Test
- Vector Group Verification
- No Load Loss Test
- Load Loss Test
- Impedance Test
- Applied Voltage Test
- Induced Voltage Test
- Oil BDV Test
- Leakage Test
Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and customer inspections. Testing is expected to follow applicable IS, IEC or IEEE standards and customer specifications.

Support ISO 9001 implementation and continual improvement activities.
8. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
- Identify product defects.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
- Implement CAPA.
- Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Reduce rework and rejection.
9. Customer Quality Support
- Attend customer inspections.
- Support third-party inspections.
- Resolve customer complaints.
- Prepare technical quality reports.
- Coordinate warranty quality investigations.
10. Continuous Improvement
- Reduce defects.
- Improve First Pass Yield.
- Reduce Customer Complaints.
- Improve Process Capability.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives.
